Thomson (1918-2004) served in the Air Force from 1943 to 1946 and flew twenty-five combat missions with the 744th Bombardment Squadron of the 456th Bomb Group. He worked at Rheem Manufacturing Company until 1960, when he left as manager of research and development for a position with Bock Corporation in Madison (Wisconsin).
